February Newsletter
February 1, 2010
Dear Parents:
During Catholic Schools Week our students will participate in many enjoyable activities; such as, a special Mass in which students read their essays about attending Catholic Schools, visits from our local neighborhood fireman and police officers for Community Members Appreciation Day, making patriotic classroom flags for Nation’s Day, special appreciation days for parents, teachers and staff members, and a student day with free dress. It will be a great week for all!
This month we will begin to prepare for the season of Lent. The students will attend Mass on Ash Wednesday. In class the focus for this time is to recognize that prayer is an important part of the liturgical season and make greater efforts to be more helpful and generous to others and ones in need. Our pillar of character is Respect.
Also, we will be celebrating and recognizing the Christian works of St. Valentine. For Valentine’s Day, February 14, we will have a valentine card exchange the Friday before the holiday on February 12. Please ensure that all students in the class are recognized by a card. Our class has 15 students, now.
Finally, it will be a pleasure to see all of you at our Open House on Wednesday evening, February 3, 2010. The students did such a fine job on their science experiments, art projects and Mystery Book Report displays, as well as, other works of achievement. These will be on display that evening.
The students should begin reading their biography books on a famous person in history for their book report project this month. The project which is an oral speech presentation of this person life’s achievements is due February 23, 2010.
Thank you in advance for attending the Open House and your continued support throughout the month.
Sincerely,
Ms. Dickson
